Africatown announces the 7th Annual State of Africatown gathering this Saturday.
Seattle, WA - Africatown Seattle invites the media and public to the 7th Annual State of Africatown to be held this Saturday, February 15, 2020 from 10:00am - 1:00pm at the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute in the Central District of Seattle.
The State of Africatown will consist of a comprehensive look back at the previous year which saw Africatown surpass many historic milestones including the opening of the Liberty Bank Building, the awarding of funding for the Africatown Plaza development from the City of Seattle and King County. The launch of health & wellness as well as home ownership initiatives and the ongoing support of Black businesses in the Central District such as Flowers Just-4-U, Earl’s The Postman, and many more happened in the year.
The State of Africatown will also have a power-packed lineup of speakers and the theme this year is Strengthening Roots, Building Our Future and will feature presentations on the dynamic work happening in our community and the path forward in 2020 and beyond.
Also on the agenda includes the Induction of Elders of Distinction, a showcase of our youth and the annual State of Africatown address.
