Love and History with Nana Kibibi
What a blessing it was today to not only have one of our community's most respected artists and elders but also my personal mentor, Nana Kibibi, as my guest on the Community Corner Podcast.
This is a powerful episode in which Nana Kibibi touched on growing up in Yesler Terrace as a youth and what it was like being a performance artist in Seattle when the Central District was full of jazz music and juke joints.
We also touched on Nana Kibibi's founding of Nu Black Arts West Theater, the oldest African American theater troop in the Pacific Northwest as well as how important it is that young people, especially, young Black youth, learn their history. Nana Kibibi is all about love and she gave insights on the redeeming power of love and how essential it is that we find things that we love everyday. Lastly Nana Kibibi gave her advice as to how we can all #FinishTheMission
